Martin Parr

Martin Parr is a documentary photographer, photojournalist and photobook collector. He is known for his photographic projects that look at various aspects of modern life in particular suburban life in England. He began working as a professional photographer in the mid-1970s. He has almost 50 books published and has featured in around 80 exhibitions worldwide as well as being a member of Magnum Photos. He worked in black and white until 1984 when he switched to colour; he was one of the first colour photographers. As well as being a photographer he is also a keen collector, including postcards, photographs and various items of popular culture.

The above images are taken from a collection of Martin Parr's work 'Common Sense'. The series focuses on typical English traditions and English culture/nature. He uses flash throughout the majority of his images and all of them are very bright and colourful. The vibrancy of the images tend to draw you in.
